Tending What Is Near

There is a quiet discipline that rarely receives attention.

Tending to what is close.

Not the distant crises of the world. Not the endless commentary. Not the noise that pulls us outward.

But the simple act of noticing the people and places that actually surround us.

A friend who has grown quiet. A family member who carries more than they say. The neighbour whose life is harder than we imagine. Even the state of our own mind at the end of a long day.

Strength does not only live in big gestures.

Often it appears in small acts of steadiness: listening without interruption, checking in, showing up, taking care of the things that sustain daily life.

In a restless world, attention itself becomes a form of care.

Today, take a moment to tend to what is near.
